• Agios Georgios

At the settlement down by the port, Agios Georgios, you find most accommodations. I will not mention them all, but only the one I had the privilege to stay at.

I reached Iráklia late in the evening and that can often be a problem when you visit a new island. "Will I find I nice place to stay?" I sometimes wonder. Close to the port I was met by Mrs Gavalas and she asked if I was interested in hiring a room. "Yes", I said. Well, no one else was asking and I didn't see a soul in the dark, so I thought to myself: "I better follow this lady and see what she has to offer".

Sohoro Rooms is situated in an area of vineyards and olive trees and some 180 metres away from Agios Georgios beach. There are three simple rooms with private bath, fridge and veranda. The hosts also offer local high quality products to the guest like honey and cheese made by Fani Gavala.
