The Agios Ioannis cave is considered to be the main attraction of Iráklia. It is believed to be one of the most beautiful caves in the Cyklades! My mistake was not to bring a strong torch to be able to do a somewhat thorough investigation of the cave. Anyway, I saw some stalactites and the so called cave milk so I'm quite content.
To reach the cave it is most common to walk up to Chora (Panaghia) and then continue on a path approximately 1, 5 hours of walk. The path is to the right and take of two buildings after the church. During the walk you pass around mountain Pappas and that means that you get a good view of Iráklia and neighbouring islands. In my Iráklia photo section, see Main menu, you can see the entrance to the cave and one photo from inside of the cave. Another photo covering the landscape to the north is taken during this particular walk.
Don't forget to bring lots of water and something to eat. Good health and strong legs is also a must!
