Taverns

Eating is one of the fun thing you can do on Folégandros. I'm amazed over the good quality of the restaurants and taverns on the island. I would like to say that many of the taverns are focused more on quality then quantity based on local high quality vegetable and meat.

Here are a few nice taverns I want to mention:

Chora

ΤΟ ΣΠΙΤΙΚΟ - Spitiko, means home-made in English. This tavern opened in 2000 and is located close to the bakery. The dishes are based on fresh fish and local meat and of course vegetable from the island. Very spice and large dishes. There are tables in the alley as well as on a terrace with a nice view.

ΤΟ ΔΣΥΓΚΡΙΤΟ - Asigrito restaurant and grill is located at Maraki Square. The tavern have quite many tables inside which is nice on a windy day. They are specialist in meat, local from the island, of course.

ΤΟ ΣΙΚ - Sik, a restaurant situated at the corner of Kontarini Square, just before v. I you are lucky you get a table on the terrace with nice view over the squares and passing people. Tasty food with a personal Greek-German touch.

ΧΡΥΣΟΣΠΗΛΙΑ tavern is located to the right after Maraki Square. They offer lunch, dinner, snacks and coffee. Excellent salad!

Ο ΚΡΙΤΙΚΟΣ restaurant is dominating Piatsa Square. Don't miss the local feta cheese with your Greek salad. Beautiful place to spend long lunch in the shadow beneath the trees.

PIZZA PAZZA, which in Italian means Crazy Pizza, is a new establishment, founded 2003. It is a neighbour of El Greco bar. A pizzeria in Greece, maybe you ask? Why, not! In the international world we are living in, even common Greek people eat pizza. Anyway, now my friends Dario and Paulina have opened a real Italian pizzeria on Folégandros. They have open all year around!

Eva´s Garden is a somewhat different restaurant on Folégandros. The interior is stylish and the food is Greek with international influences and very delicious indeed. The food is made with higher ambitions than the "normal" Greek tavern. After the dinner, try the sweet wine from Limnos (liqueur): ΜΟΣΧΑΤΟΣ ΛΗΜΝΟΥ. Selected music is played, not Greek, but cool anyway! There is a cute little garden outside the restaurant, where you can enjoy your dinner a warm evening. The restaurant is situated on the street between Maraki Squre and bus stop to Portes/Ano Meria.

Angali

ΤΑΒΕΡΝΑ ΑΓΚΑΔΗ - Angali at Angali beach is a nice place to relax after some hours in the sun at the beach, or the nearby Fira beach. The food is great based on own sources in Áno Meriá.

Karavostassis (port)

ΤΟ ΚΑΤΙ ΑΛΛΟ is part of Hotel Poseidon close to Hochlidia beach with it's tamarisk trees. Hochlidia beach is far from my favourite, but its nice to have a lunch at this restaurant overlooking the restful view of the sea. It's a peaceful place, at least outside the main season.

Áno Meriá

There are several taverns to choose from up in Áno Meriá, among others Ο ΜΙΜΗΣ about 100 metres before Aghios Georgios cathedral. At this establishment you can have local traditional dishes, and my favourite: Greek salad with local cheese from the island. The tavern have a peaceful location with splendid view of the Aegean sea as well as the village cathedral.
