A morning in Piraeus

I did arrive early to Piraeus today, about 06:30. The idea to visit the centre of Athen for a few hours I postponed to another time, due to lack of time. So instead I did some walking and photo shooting in Piraeus, and then later took the bus X96 to Athen airport.

Piraeus is a big contrast to the small islands in the Greek archipelago: lots of people, cars, ships, in other words a lot of noise and stress. But if you have time, you can walk slowly ignoring all people running around looking busy. To be fair some of the inhabitants sit calmly and have a coffee, as they had all the time in the word: a city of contrast!

Today Sunday I have been enjoying my day together with all Greeks here on the island! The weather has been great, and of course the locals take their car or scooter and go to a nice beach/tavern by the sea.

First I spent some time at Delphini C.O. beach, and later had lunch at Kini, above the Lotos beach to be precise. Then I drove along the west and south coast passing places like Galissas, Finika, Ampela, Megas Giaos and Vari. Close to Vari I went to a remote beach Satorinioi, for a swim and some relaxation.

Now I felt very much for a cold frappé, and where else could I get such a tasty coffee but not in a coffee shop at Azolimnos, just by the beach with the same name.

This is my last evening in Greece for this time, and I have been blessed with good weather, meeting with nice people, lovely food and wine, good walking, the latter especially on Folegandros. So yes, it has been a relaxing vacation for me!
